Depending on your field of research, some specific features may be more relevant to you than others.

See below 10 simple questions to help you decide on what you need most from your Motion Capture System.

Or.. just ask us your questions directly.

High accuracy?

Our H-series VZ4000v trackers offer a 3D accuracy of <0.50mm RMS and can detect a position change as small as 0.015mm (at 1.2m distance).

Using 1-chip LED markers will give you the greatest precision, while automatic calibration (unique on the market!) will keep your trackers calibrated at all times and maintain capture data accuracy.

For even larger capture space, more trackers can be added to join multiple capture spaces together.

A
Large capture space?

All PTI trackers offer an exclusive 90-degree viewing angle.

One SINGLE tracker can already capture targets over a 7x9m space! Using our 6-chip led markers with 170-degree detection angle will maximize the capture range.

A
Tight capture space? Then you need the short VZ4050 tracker! Only 62cm in length, it can capture targets as close as 25 cm, over a 90-degree viewing angle, both horizontally and vertically!
A
Multiple subjects in real-time?

It is easy, and cost-efficient. Unique marker ID's ensure that no marker-swapping errors can occur.

With only 4 trackers you can already capture simultaneously 2 subjects over a 7x9m space, in real-time!

Even more subjects can be captured by expanding your system with additional trackers.

A
Complex motions?

Capturing complex motions (for example: finger motions) together with whole body at the same time and without marker errors is an impossible task for most Motion Capture systems. Not for a PTI system, thanks to our unique marker ID's.
You can capture intricate finger motion AND full body at the same time, with no errors, and use your data in real-time.

A
Flexible, autonomous capture system?

A PTI system is portable, flexible and autonomous.

Portable because each tracker can be transported easily with its tripod, setup in minutes, and start to capture without any calibration.

Flexible because trackers can be setup in anyway you like, no need to prevent them from facing each other, no need to aim them top-down either.

Autonomous because marker swapping will never happen, and automatic calibration frees you from having to repeatedly calibrate the system manually!

A
Real-time control?

PTI systems are developed for real-time applications, of course this means they are also good for non-real-time applications too.

Besides being able to identify each marker uniquely, without any error, the data output latency is <0.0005s, perfect for applications requiring instant data feedback.

SDK is also available for the most demanding applications which must minimize the temporal effects of the computer OS.

A
Synchronization with other devices?

Nothing is easier. A PTI system can be synchromized with any equipment, (Forceplate, EMG..) via a National Instruments board.

You can also synchronize your trackers with an eye-tracking device, or high speed cameras.

A
Software compatibility? Our systems come with complete operation software and motion analysis software.

Plugins for Matlab, Labview, Visual 3D, The Motion Monitor are also available, as well as for other software.
A
Haptics or tactile feedback? Then you will enjoy using our haptic markers.

These markers can send tactile stimuli in real time while capturing motions, allowing you to control or train a subject’s motions by ‘touch’.

  Industrial Engineering Videos
Synchronizing motion capture with force plates, EMG or any other research equipment can be done easily with the VZDaq software which is compatible with many National Instruments data acquisition boards. All collected data will be stored within one single file for synchronized retrieval. VZAnalyzer can be used to manipulate, analyze and display the data, or a user application can retrieve the data via a plugin or the VZSDK.

This video was made in 2003 for the BBC to demonstrate a mocap capability that even today most other systems are unable to do. The entire upper body, including face, both arms and all ten fingers were all captured together! Fingers can make the most complex motions human can make. This capture was made with just three Visualeyez trackers.

Virtual interaction, virtual reality, virtual design, virtual training, all require instant flawless motion data feedback. This video shows two people interacting, each wearing a HMD and is captured by a separate Visualeyez system at a different location. The captured motion data are merged by our HydraNet software, then animated and displayed on this giant screen (by invitation of the Siggraph 2002 organizer).

Human factor engineering and ergonomics research can be easily carried out when intricate motions can be captured by a Visualeyez system from the most appropriate directions anytime.

Completely wireless self-identified markers can be easily attached to any object for trouble-free motion capture. The extremely fast response of the Visualeyez system further removes any sensor problems in the visual feedback control of a fundamentally unstable biped robot - Dribbel with pointed feet

Completely wireless self-identified active markers can be used to capture the motions of a rotating wheel without any marker-swapping problem or wire entanglement

Size: 3.6 mb

High G crash testing with motion capture equipment on-board has never been heard of before. The Visualeyez system has accurately captured crash dummy motions under 15G tests. This is higher G force than the best fighter pilot in the world can sustain

Dynamic analysis and control of a model structure under various natural conditions can be easily accomplished with a Visualeyez system

Size: 2.7 mb

Visualeyez system can be used to compute and track the center of gravity of a person in motion in real-time for stumbling research and control

US NASA uses several Visualeyez systems for their R&D including tele-robotic manipulation in the Robonaut program for the International Space Station. The Visualeyez system is chosen for 1. reliable real-time operation, 2. wide angle makes it able to capture an entire astronaut even within the tiny space station chambers, 3. low-power consumption, and 4. high ruggedness for the rocket ride.

Hurdle motions can be easily captured, animated, analyzed and graphed for instant coaching to improve sports performance

Size: 1 mb

Sports performance can be easily improved by the real-time animation and motion analysis feedback capabilities of a Visualeyez 3D motion capture system

Size: 1 mb

A single-tracker low-cost system is good enough for many full- body motion capture applications such as walking or running due to the exceedingly WIDE ANGLE hence huge 3D capture space of a Visualeyez system

Size: 5.1 mb

Extremely high speed motions of even a golf club head can be captured in real-time by making use of the unique 'Multi-Rate Sampling' capability of a Visualeyez system. This capability allows highly different speed motions to be captured simultaneously at practically the same spatial resolution (distance between data samples) thereby limiting the amount of irrelevant data

Size: 2.4 mb

Motion capture over reflective surfaces is a cinch with the Visualeyez system because it does not require any flood lighting. Flood lighting would confuse or even blind the cameras on the other side of the reflective surface
